The HAT20S Kawai upright was part of Kawai's silent player feature line that was started in the 1990's, this model is a 1999. The silent play feature allows the player to plug in and use headphone to play the instrument without the hammers hitting the actual strings, giving you a digital piano while also having an acoustic upright at the flip of a switch.
